Today’s Lenten Prayer

Info2013

“Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than men; knowing that from the Lord you will receive an inheritance. It is the Lord whom you serve.”  (Colossians 3:23-24)

Monday 25.03.2013  — We all work for somebody, and I’m not talking about our employers.  I’m talking about the Lord Jesus Christ.  We pray that God gives success to our work and that we work in the knowledge that “whatever we do we do for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)

Youth Missions Project Berlin — Celebrate!

youth

Well done, IBC Berlin!

What a wonderful week we enjoyed hosting the youth missions team from Texas.  You did a great job doing your part for the Lord, our church, and God’s Kingdom.

A caravan of cars were at the airport to pick up the team of 20 youth and leaders who were with us for the week.  The team stayed in host homes — special thanks to Faith Kazembe, Birgit Holm, Knut and Kim Bleck, Adam Knight, and Scott and Laurie Corwin — for the week as they served alongside IBCBers and our local partners throughout the week.

Among the activities were:  school programs in Steglitz and Prenslauer Berg, Alexanderplatz outreach with European Initiative, Youth Cafe Oranienburg, Stadtmission, Serve the City Berlin special project, and Jona Haus Spandau.  We couldn’t have done this without those who organized the activities for the week:  Ruth Beltran, Kim Bleck, Melinda Means (STC), and Matt Lankenau (EI).

Food, local transportation, and the Thursday night pot-luck/sleep required lots of energy and effort.  Special thanks to Kenya Lehmann, Klaus Ziegler, Leah Chihana, and Kim Bleck for providing the support and organization necessary.  Thanks to everyone who contributed to the wonderful feast of food we enjoyed on Thursday.  We appreciated the sleeping bags and blankets, too.  (The fellowship room and the Zentrum were covered with sleeping teenagers!)

What was the pay off for all of this effort?

  • The church was mobilized
  • Teenagers and IBCBers were engaged in local outreach
  • Teenagers and IBCBers grew in discipleship
  • The Gospel was presented and modeled to hundreds of people
  • IBCB moved closer to being the church God intends for us to become

Praise the Lord, for all that he has done in and through this Youth Mission Project Berlin!

oper mult

Who:       All disciple-makers (church leaders, members, etc.)

Cost:       20 Euros (for materials including: discipler’s guide, spiritual journal, Call to Joy, and Call to Growth)

What:     Disciple Making Workshop

Most of us are familiar with the term discipleship. “Operation Multiplication’s” ministry focuses on two more descriptive terms, disciple-making and Christian mentoring. What sets these two terms, discipleship and disciple-making apart?

· Discipleship typically describes traditional Christian education in general

· Disciple-making describes effective Christian follow up by establishing a one-to-one Christian mentoring process at your church.

An introduction to “Operation Multiplication’s” Christian mentoring process:  A group of more mature believers are selected and trained to become certified disciple-makers. When a new Christian or new member joins your church, they are offered a friendship with one of these trained disciple-makers. They meet one-to-one once per week, usually for coffee, breakfast, lunch, or dinner for about 1 ½ hours and learn to develop spiritual growth skills. The goal is for each new Christian to establish a friendship – become a self-feeder from the Word of God – grow spiritually – and then share their faith with others resulting in spiritual multiplication!

On Thursday and Friday 11-12 April, IBC Berlin will host Mark Wagner and Willi Daiker of Operation Mobilization Germany who will introduce us to the Operation Multiplication Christian mentoring process.  Here’s what you can expect:

  • An inspirational message on disciple-making
  • An introduction to the Operation Mobilization disciple-making process
  • An overview of the use of Operation Mobilization follow up and disciple-making materials

Today’s Lenten Prayer

Info2013

Thursday 21.03.2013 — We pray that would use social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) responsibly and creatively to promote the gospel truth of Jesus Christ.  The promise is that God’s word will not return empty — so we pray that God will produce the fruit of salvation and Christlike character through modern technology (Isaiah 55:11).
