24 Hours of Prayer Chain

Please, find below the “Prayer Chain Schedule” (temporarily available), the “Prayer Guide”, and some other prayer resources for our 24 Hours of Prayer Chain.

Instructions:

At your assigned time you will receive a phone call or a text message from the person preceding you in the prayer chain.  Receive a prayer of blessing from that person, then begin your time of prayer using the suggested prayer guides below.

When you complete your assigned time, text or call the next person in the list — if there is more than one number listed, please, contact both numbers.  Pray a simple prayer of blessing for their time of prayer, such as:  “May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you His favor and give you His peace.”

Make a note of any special experiences you had and be prepared to share if you’d like when we gather for worship on Sunday.

If you have questions, please, contact Pastor Scott — TEXT or WHATsAPP — see schedule for his phone number.

Deacon Nominations @ IBCB

According to the biblical model of church structure and our church constitution the pastor is initiating the deacon appointment process. Following the biblical model of Acts 6:1-7 and the qualifications of deacons in 1 Tim. 3:8-13, IBCB will appoint new deacons to assist the pastor and leaders in the pastoral care ministry of the church.

Acts 6:2-4
So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.”

1 Tim. 3:8-12
Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.  In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well.

At IBCB, we have concluded that these biblical principles can be summarized in the following ways that guide our selection and appointment of deacons:

• Deacons, distinguished by their character and qualifications, serve in practical/caring ministries according to abilities/giftedness.

• The congregation nominates qualified and gifted persons who are interviewed by the leaders/deacons and installed by the congregation.

• Biblically qualified persons male or female may serve as deacons (1 Tim. 3:8-13)

• Deacons will be trained for deacon CARE ministry (30 minutes/week); deacons will meet monthly (2 hours/month) to pray and plan.
