The Spirit’s Provision — Ephesians 1:13
13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession–to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:13-14 (NIV)
The Holy Spirit proves that God started a work that he will finish! The indwelling presence of the Spirit of Jesus is God’s sign of ownership that we belong to him. He is a down payment that leads to an inevitable pay-off — we spend eternity with him.
You and I can live in the confident assurance that God — Father, Son, and Spirit — has done his work of salvation in our lives. Our confidence is grounded firmly in him and not in ourselves.
That’s a solid foundation of assurance!
