A healthy follower of Christ is:
- Surrendering his or her heart and life to Christ on an ongoing basis.
- Experiencing fellowship with other Christians.
- Growing in Christ through “being” and “action.”
- Discovering and using his or her God-given gifts and abilities.
- Reaching out and sharing the love of Christ with nonbelievers.
Get up late on Sunday morning and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Chill for a while and take care of a few things around the house. [Thank goodness IBCB has a Sunday afternoon service.] Start getting the kids ready and begin thinking about leaving for worship. No rush — worship rarely starts on time.
Arrive just before greeting time and say “hello” to friends. Sing a few lines of worship songs, take time to be quiet during prayer time, listen to the message, and pass the offering bag. Chat with a few acquaintances after the benediction then go home. It’s done — “church” is over for the week.

“Grow in Maturity” is one of IBCB’s basic workshops designed to equip you to
live the disciple-life! In this four-hour workshop you will be taught the practices — the “holy habits” — of being an authentic follower of Jesus Christ. You will learn essential skills in four key areas: Scripture, Prayer, Finances, and
Our goal this year is to have 75 people attend this workshop AND make a personal covenant commitment to practice these spiritual disciplines. Since 1. January, 40+IBCBers have attended this workshop. (If you’ve attended the workshop and have not yet made your covenant commitment, prayerfully consider do so as soon as possible. We become our commitments!)
This workshop — along with the three others in this basic series — are at the core of our mission and vision of “multiplying and mobilizing disciple-making followers of Jesus Christ.”
